Hey there,
underwaterphotography.org is a private art project from Jonas Gieske.
I’m Jonas. I love diving and am very passionate about underwater photography.
The first time I went diving as a child and discovered the world that lies beneath the surface, I was simply captivated by its beauty.
Fast forward many years of countless scuba- and freediving I bought my first underwater camera to finally capture the marine wildlife I enjoyed so much. In the past 10 years barely anything that isn’t water-related made it in front of my lense, which enabled me to grow my image library with underwater shots from all around the world.
However, 17 years of diving also showed me how incredibly fragile the marine ecosystem is.
Which is how the idea of this project was born. I wanted to share my passion for marine photography and the beauty I discovered underwater whilst at the same time helping preserve marine wildlife.
So, to do my part, I decided to donate 40% of the profit from the purchase of my underwater prints to save the ocean. While our world is still facing the effects of the global pandemic Covid-19 you can choose several marine enthusiats from indonesia which are completly reliant to marine tourism. Beside that I do other cooperative art projects in my home town my Mannheim. Mostly this projects combine social issues & art and involving many people.
